Communist Party of Bangladesh-CPB, one of the leading political parties of the country with a tradition of successful mass movements, is going to organize its 11th National Congress from 28-31 October. The Congress will start with a mass rally at the Sohrawarthy Udyan of Dhaka at 02 pm on 28th October, Friday. Thousands of party workers and supporters are expected to join the rally with red flags in hands. After the inauguration, a colourful procession will start from Sohrawarthy Udyan and will end at the Central Shahid Minar, after touring important avenues of the city.
Foreign guests from several Communist party and Workers parties joining the Congress will be introduced at the inaugural ceremony of the Congress. The artists from Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi will perform one of their most popular productions named “Din Bodoler Pala” (Tale for Social Change) at the inauguration ceremony.
CPB organised its 10th National Congress from 11-13 October 2012. According to the party’s constitution, it is mandatory to organize a National Congress in every four years. A press conference of the organizing committee of the Congress was organized at the Progati Conference Hall of Mukti Bhaban of Purana Paltan in Dhaka, regarding the 11th National Congress of CPB.
At the press conference, the CPB General Secretary Comrade Syed Abu Zafar Ahmed said, “CPB is organizing this Congress, with a view to achieve revolutionary democratic change eying establishment of Socialism and in order to establish a left-democratic alternative bypassing the bi-partisan politics led by Awami League and BNP. That’s why the slogan of the Congress is set as- Abolish communalism, imperialism and ravage”.
He also said that the 11th National Congress of CPB is being organized as a step of the preparation for taking the country towards a much dreamed political reform. He convened the countrymen to join the inaugural mass rally of the Congress and join the process of change.
The joint-convener of Congress Organising Committee, Aniruddha Das Anjan presented the press conference and the converner of the Organising Committtee, Sazzad Zahir Chandan read a written statement during the press conference.
Presidium members of CPB Comrade Md. Shah Alam, Comrade Altaf Hossain, Comrade Lakshmi Chakroborty, Comrade Ahsan Habib Lablu; central leaders of CPB Mahabubul Alam, Ruhin Hossain Prince, Kaafi Ratan, Joli Talukder, Sadequr Rahman Shamim were present at the press conference. Apart from them, the conveners of various sub-committees of the organizing committee, Hasan Tarique Chowdhury, Anowar Hossain Reza, Aslam Khan, Hafiz Adnan Riad, Manabendro Deb, Monjur Moeen were also present at the press conference.
It was informed in the press conference that, conferences in all the branches of CPB have already been organized before the National Congress. A number of 683 people were elected as Councilors during these conferences and they include 217 women and 17 councilors from the indigenous community. Apart from them, a number of 108 observers were also elected during the district conferences. 99 Veteran Comrades have been invited to attend the Congress.
On 29th October, a day after the inauguration, a close-door organizational session will start at the Kazi Bashir Auditorium (Mahanagar Natyo Moncho) of Gulistan at 9.30 am. This session will continue till evening of 31st October. The councilors will discuss and pass the Political and Organisational Report issued by CPB Central Committee during this session. Those two reports have been distributed among the councilors for opinion three months before the Congress, according to the party constitution. Apart from those two reports, the councilors will also pass amendment to constitution, report of Audit committee, report of control commission and report of the credential committee etc. during the organizational session. The central committee, control commission and national council will be announced during the last session of the organizational council.
An international seminar regarding ‘Imperialism, Neo-Liberalism and Religious Fundamentalism’ will be organized at the Conference Room of National Press Club at 03 pm on 29th October. The foreign guests joining the National Congress will discuss on the issue. Apart from that, cultural performances will be performed from 07 pm to 09 pm on 28 and 29th October at the Mahanagar Natyo Moncho. Renowned artists of the country will take part in those performances. The cultural performances will remain open for all. The foreign delegates will give speech at 12 noon on 29th October. The veteran comrades will be felicitated at 06 pm on 30th October.
It was told in the press conference that thousand of dedicated party workers are working day and night in order to make the National Congress a successful event. People have been helping us in different ways. The expenses of this Congress are being met by finance collected from mass collection and donations from the party well-wishers. Apart from that, the district committees are sending rice, peas, and vegetables for feeding the delegates taking part in the Congress. A number of 500 volunteers are working under 15 sub-committees formed under the central organizing committee, with a view to make the Congress successful. More volunteers will join during the inaugural ceremony.
The written statement said, 26 delegates from 10 countries will take part in the National Congress. They include delegates from the Communist Party of India-CPI, Communist Party of India (Marxist)-CPIM, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist)-CPIML, All India Forward Block, Communist Party of Nepal (UML), Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), Communist Party of Nepal (Mashal), Communist Party of Britain, Communist Party of Vietnam, MLPD from Germany, Communist Party of the Russ Federation, Communist Party of Pakistan, Communist Party of Sri Lanka, Communist Party of China and Workers Party of North Korea. Messages wishing success of the Congress are already coming from various friendly political parties of different countries.
Press Conferences will be held at 04 pm everyday at the Media Center of Congress in order to inform about the National Congress. The Spokesman for Congress will be present in the press conferences. The journalists can get information about the Congress from them.
Leaders in the press conference hoped that the media will play positive role as before in order to spread news of the Congress among the countrymen.
